I can even use it on city streets with my convertible top down. I bought the Anycom last year when it was a Gold Box item and was really a great deal. I haven't tried it top-down on a highway, simply I have to crank the stereo really loud to hear it with the top down on expressways, so I know there's no way to hear any kind of speakerphone. Because it was so cheap, I really didn't expect much of it. I've been pleasantly surprised. The solar recharge is amazing. The only time I've had to charge it with a cord is when I let it run down completely and was worried about how long it would take to build up a charge with the solar panel.
Besides that its a wonderful unit and I love it. Besides I now don't have to worry about gadget thieves breaking into my car when parked. So I decided to live with it and suggest Anycom to A) Increase the speaker output to 2W+ on the new productB) Include a FM transmitter feature so that we can use the car radio instead. (not all will drive lexus or high end very quite cars.
The roof can slide in and out without hitting any thing in its path. Infact I have mounted my device on my moon roof in my Honda Accord and it works like a charm. Even through the tinted moon roof, It gets enough light when I park at my work place. Even at the highest volume setting and the fact that the unit is so close to my ears on my moon roof, I can still barely hear and have to strain my ears to understand the conversation.
On little quite and well paved road this is not a problem (ex: 880N just after airport the stretch is quite). I pull the moon roof slide inside my car and its out of vision. I speak for more than an hour a day to and fro on my commute and the battery stays at full charge. (I check the battery status by hitting the volume control buttons and it always beeps four times = >7hours of talk time)Aright. I have been using this product for 4 weeks now and I should say I did not have any issues like others did on the solar charging side.
Its partly because of bad CA roads too. On 680 and 880, there are many spots where I have to strain my ears to hear. Also I guess if you have a heavier car with less road noise this will not be an issue too. Anycom should have designed it with this in consideration. of course the way too complicated features access with just two buttons (although I don't care for any more features other than call receive, flash and transfer the blue tooth connection back to my phone on bad roads.which is easy and I am fine). It's that thin. nor will consider changing cars for blue tooth :).
what's the part I did not like much. The sound quality is great, noise cancellation works, but I wanted this unit to output a little more sound. Having said that on my other mini-van with integrated blue tooth the issue is noise cancellation doesn't work as good as it does on this unit. Just this feature can make it perfect.
bad quality, so I replaced this products by spending double amount of money to purchase identical product of LG from England. This product does not worth the money. Don't buy.
But it doesn't work often. This is my third Solar Car Kit. Once paired, the Anycom SCK will reconnect by itself when you get in range. Two did not recharge via solar (in California's very sunny summer Central Valley.). Anycom sent one replacement which I have now and the solar recharge doesn't work. By the way, their online form or email is NOT their preferred contact method. Call their SoCal 24x7 support line at 866-553-9426, you get a friendly and mostly competent American to talk to and get an RMA number. All three had problems. Summary: when it works, it's very useful and easy to use. We didn't use the other features. Two I returned.
In spite of the lack of solar charging I will keep this one and recharge by USB when it runs out, which seems to be every two to three weeks. Just push the large front button to make or answer a call. And I still recommend it for those who don't use your cellphone much in the car. Before that happened, and for the others while they were charged via the supplied USB charger, they were very useful. The first two were sent back to Anycom. They still haven't replaced the other one.
and one had the large button stick which rendered it non-functional. Like another reviewer, we don't use our phones much so won't bother with a Bluetooth earpiece. These have to come from Germany I'm told, hence the delay. If you do use your cellphone, use a BT earpiece or another visor/windshield device and get used to a dangling wire.
This should have been more than adequate to charge it up. It's solar powered, so I should be able to just stick it in my windshield and forget about it. The Anycom kit seemed to be the perfect solution to my problem. So if you're buying it because it's solar, save your money, and wait for some other company to produce one. This was on a Sunday. I think I will try to return it if I get some free time. They definitely do NOT have their act together, and I'm unsure that the solar panel does anything at all.
The problem is with powering it.I live in Southern California, and park my car outside both at home and at work. It's nice and loud, the button is easy to press, it paired easily with my phone, &c. This device was getting 12-14 HOURS of direct sunlight EVERY DAY. This should be ample power for it. I bought this car kit because of the new California law, and also because I specifically didn't want to have a bunch of wires strewn about in my car. I figured I didn't let it charge enough when I bought it, so I took it in the house and charged it overnight. The next day, it had a full battery, and worked just great. However, after less than a week, it once again started crying about how it didn't have enough power.
Not one to give up on it, I thought to myself, "Okay, I really only need it on weekends." So, I left it in the window, but OFF, for a week. It got a grand total of 60 HOURS of DIRECT SUNLIGHT. After 5 days, the device started beeping every 30 seconds to tell me it didn't have enough power. I rarely use the phone in my car, so I wasn't asking much from it.It still didn't deliver.Actually, the regular functions of it work just fine. When I turned it on, it IMMEDIATELY began crying about not having enough power.
It wasn't. During this week, I probably used it for a grand total of 5 minutes of calls. I have since thrown it in the glove box and not used it. This one will only work properly if it's plugged in, so you may as well buy a cheaper one and save yourself the solar premium.
